QD III to me is one of the most interesting figures in hip-hop production. The extended version of this post can be found here. To make the long story short, QD III is the son of Quincy Jones, did tracks for legendary rappers (2Pac, LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Too $hort) and produced and/or scored popular hip-hop-related sitcoms and documentaries (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Thug Angel).

Our audio treats reveal QD III’s loyalty to the West Coast as we highlight some of his earlier work, assuming everybody’s familiar with at least Pac’s “To Live and Die in LA.” Both tracks show Quincy’s inclination to smoothen things out and to drop it heavy on the low end.
